What metals do you offer?Updated 8 days ago
The ability to choose your metal is the foundation of our personalized jewelry. We offer several different fine and demi-fine metals to meet your jewelry goals and budget.
We only source metals that we are confident are authentic, high-quality and built to last, prioritizing recycled metals as much as we can. Below you will find the lowdown on each type of metal we offer.
Just like solid gold, sterling silver is a solid metal that will last a lifetime with minimal care and polishing. Sterling silver consists of 92.5% pure silver (hence why sterling silver is sometimes referred to as “925 silver”) and is considered a precious metal. The other 7.5% of the alloy is usually copper, which strengthens the silver without compromising its appearance.
For those that love the look and feel of solid gold jewelry, but not the price tag, our 14k gold-filled option is an excellent, affordable alternative—one of our favorite jewelry metals ever. Gold-filled pieces have a very thick layer of 14k gold, heat and pressure bonded to a high-quality jeweler’s brass core. The thick outer layer of gold makes it highly durable and safe for people with allergies or sensitive skin. With proper care and storage, gold-filled pieces can still offer decades of love and wear (without breaking the bank).
We offer both 14k solid gold and 10k solid gold, depending on the piece. Solid gold is an heirloom-quality metal that will last for lifetimes with minimal upkeep, and can be worn 24/7—even in the shower and while swimming (just no chlorine, please). Since gold is a softer metal, it is often mixed into an alloy with other metals like silver and copper to add strength. 14k and 10k solid gold are both durable, tarnish-resistant, waterproof metals that will never discolor.
Vermeil
Vermeil is composed of a thick layer of gold plating over solid sterling silver—one of the most popular types of jewelry metals out there. It’s the thickness of the gold and the sterling silver base that differentiates this option from gold-plating. Our vermeil pieces are plated with 14k and 18k gold to get a perfect, soft yellow hue. They meet or exceed industry standards for durability.
Gold Plated
Our 14k gold plating is over 100x as thick as traditional flash plating, making it a tarnish-proof and hypoallergenic choice for everyday jewelry. Unlike most brands, our gold plated and vermeil pieces contain the same amount of gold, but our base metal differs depending on the piece: sterling silver for daintier options, jeweler’s brass for chunkier pieces.
